Council at Large Candidate Matt Wolfe Calls for Proper Funding and Management of Philly Animal Shelter, ACCT

Philadelphia, PA – Republican City Council at Large candidate Matt Wolfe criticized the Kenney Administration for the lack of funding and oversight management of the city’s animal shelter.  Philadelphia only has one open-intake animal shelter and contracts with Animal Care Control Team Philly (ACCT Philly), a nonprofit, to manage it. However, the Mayor appoints its Board of Directors.  The conditions at the shelter have been described by many as “deplorable.”  This year ACCT Philly even had to suspend dog adoptions and intakes due to infections and deaths of sick animals.  Last month the Executive Director abruptly resigned.  The City Controller’s Office has released a report detailing serious waste and mismanagement of both the funds provided by the city as well as charitable grants. Council at Large Candidate Matt Wolfe Calls Kenney’s Refusal to Debate Cowardly; Calls for Council at Large Debate

Philadelphia, PA – City Council at Large candidate Matt Wolfe criticized Mayor Kenney for his refusal to debate his Republican opponent, Billy Ciancaglini. Wolfe said “I don’t know what is worse: that the mayor won’t engage in a debate with his opponent or his reason for refusing. Philadelphia is the birthplace of American freedom. That was only possible through the free debate of ideas among those with differing opinions. Debates are a bedrock of the American political system that allowed him to become mayor of a major U.S. city. Mayor Kenney disrespects our City’s and Country’s values by refusing to engage in a meaningful debate of ideas with his only opponent.” He went on to say “And if the Mayor is so confident that his policy initiatives are what is best for Philadelphia, then he should have no reason not to debate.  Failing to do so is cowardly.” Read More

Council Candidate Wolfe Blasts Kenney and Council for Using City Funds to Pay Lawyers of Illegal Aliens

Philadelphia, PA – City Council at Large candidate Matt Wolfe has condemned the allocation of city funds by City Council in the most recent budget to pay for lawyers for illegal aliens in immigration court.  Mayor Jim Kenney announced that the city was partnering with the Vera Institute for Justice to split the cost of this project.  The Vera Institute is a New York City based progressive advocacy group that was started as a project of Louis Schweitzer, a trustee of one of George Soros’ foundations.  Soros spent nearly $1.7 Million helping Larry Krasner get elected District Attorney.

“This is outrageous. Philadelphia’s murder rate is way up and the public education system is failing our children,” noted Wolfe. Read More
